Oncology treatment in South Korea consists of several stages:
- Radiation or radiotherapy is aimed at reducing the volume of the tumor, and sometimes completely eliminating it without the intervention of a surgeon. In Korea, RapidArc devices are used, which direct radiation precisely to the tumor and do not affect healthy tissue.
- Chemotherapy - used in combination with drugs that reduce side effects, nausea, and weakness.
- Surgical removal. Open abdominal surgeries are not very common. Doctors prefer laparoscopic and endoscopic methods and use robotic surgeons - so they are limited to minimal incisions on the skin. This significantly reduces the rehabilitation period.
- New methods - Cyber Knife, Gamma Knife, cryotherapy, ultrasound ablation. All of them destroy the tumor in 1 session without harm to surrounding organs and blood vessels.
